TELY is an acronym for The Earth Loves You. :)
We just launched our café in 2020 (woo!). However, we spent many years and countless hours, before 2020, formulating and perfecting our products and recipes, sourcing the best possible ingredients in the world, and developing our menu. We're thrilled to share all of our hard work with you now! :)
Adaptogens are non-toxic and natural herbs and mushrooms that can help your body adapt when you’re anxious, stressed, or out of balance. In doing so, they can allow your body to maintain homeostasis (harmony within the body) and to develop greater resistance to internal and environmental stressors. Think of adaptogens as your go-to ally, to help you move through life with more strength and ease. Though adaptogens have traditionally been used, for thousands of years, in many ancient healing modalities (including Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine), research is now catching up to the scientific benefits of these plant based medicines.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient and sophisticated system of health and wellness that has been practiced in China for more than 3,000 years. Though you’ve probably heard of acupuncture, cupping, and gua sha, TCM is complex and includes many other forms, such as medicinal herbs, massage, exercise (qigong), and philosophy. At the core of TCM is the idea that there is a fundamental unity to all things. In other words, everything is connected: the organs within the body, the body and the mind, the body and its environment, etc. An imbalance in one area can throw off the balance of the entire system. TCM therapies seek to bring balance back to the body, to maintain optimal radiance and well-being.
The Three Treasures are an integral part of the theory driving Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). They are: jing, qi, and shen. Jing is your “essence” — your genetic inheritance from your parents and your deep energy reserves. It determines your longevity and is the hardest of all three treasures to replenish. Qi is your “life force” — the energy that animates all living beings. Shen is your “spirit” — responsible for thinking, planning, and feeling. It also contributes to your presence or aura. To better understand the Three Treasures, think of them like a candle! Jing is the wax and wick of the candle — the quality of the wax and wick determines the quality of your life. Qi is the flame, which provides a source of light. It can sputter, smoke, and wane, but the goal is to keep it burning evenly. Lastly, Shen is the light that emanates from the candle, brightening the darkness around it.
Ayurveda is one of the oldest holistic wellness systems in the world. It originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). Ayurveda seeks to restore balance to the body through diet, herbal remedies, massage, yoga, and meditation. A key component of Ayurvedic philosophy is that there are three types of energy that comprise every living thing: vata, pitta, and kapha. All three are combinations of the five elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. All people have different ratios of vata (Air + Space), pitta (Fire + Water), and kapha (Water + Earth) in their bodies. Identifying your body’s constitution can help determine a course of action that can help you find energetic balance.
Beta glucans are natural polysaccharides that can be found in the cell walls of bacteria, mushrooms, algae, some plants, and more. They’ve been used since the 1980s (mostly in Japan) as a supplement to help stimulate the immune system.* Research suggests that they can also help promote beneficial bacteria in the gut, keep the skin moisturized, and help you manage weight.*
When it comes to basidiomycete (a class of fungi), there are three components: spore, mycelium, and fruiting body. Spores float all around us. In the right environmental conditions, a spore will begin to germinate and develop into mycelium — an underground network of filaments. Ultimately, a mycelium may develop into the actual visible mushroom itself (also known as the fruiting body). Mushroom supplements should always be made up of the fruiting body, which holds most of a mushroom’s benefits, and doesn’t contain any starches or fillers.
Filler-free means that you’re getting the real deal — the fruiting bodies of our superfood mushrooms, without any added starches that take up empty space in your pouch and don’t add any health benefits. Our mushrooms do not grow on grain, so they have no added starch — just the naturally occurring starches within the mushroom itself.
Always. Organic, ethically-sourced ingredients are the biggest pillar of our mission. In good conscience, we couldn’t give your body something that’s been sprayed with harsh pesticides or insecticides that could potentially have negative long-term consequences for your health. In instances where an item — such as TELY SALT — cannot technically be certified, rest assured that we’ve confirmed that they are wildcrafted and free of any chemicals.
Yes — our products are vegan to ensure that everyone, no matter their dietary or lifestyle choices, can enjoy the benefits of TELY! That said, we absolutely stand behind the power of non-vegan superfoods such as high-quality grass-fed, grass-finished ghee, collagen, and more. We encourage you to combine our products with your favorite ingredients (vegan or not)!
Absolutely. We spent thousands of hours researching all of our ingredients and always demand transparency from our partners. If you can’t find the information you need on the product page or label, feel free to reach out to us directly!
While there’s no set-in-stone upper threshold for the number of products you can take simultaneously, we always encourage you to follow the suggested serving size on the back label of our products. Think about what your body needs during a given day or moment (energy? tranquility? mental clarity?) and use the herbs that are right for you then and there.
Always follow the serving size listed on the back label of our products! After that, get as creative as you want! ;) However, it’s important to remember that it’s not the number of adaptogens, herbs, or mushrooms you take that will have a measurable impact on your health — it’s the consistent habit of consuming a select few plant medicines over a period of time. Always listen to your body. If it’s your first time taking a specific herb, try taking it alone for a while to identify the way it makes your body feel. Layering too many at once might not give you any insight into what works for your body.
Our potent superherbs are a part of a strong preventative care approach. Though an herb can’t cure you in a single day, you're most likely to see results if you take them consistently over a long period of time. Since every person’s body is different, results are not identical across the board.
Every child is different, and little research exists on the use of adaptogenic plant medicine and children. We recommend waiting until they are at least four years old. Check with your herbalist, naturopath, or healthcare practitioner before administering herbs to your little ones.
Legally, we cannot provide you with medical advice. We recommend asking your local herbalist, naturopath, or healthcare practitioner about taking herbs while pregnant or breastfeeding.
